This position will be responsible for implementing, maintaining & testing the Disaster Recovery program for IT.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Identify potential risks and perform risk analysis on various potential threats to the corporate data center;
• Analyze impact on and risk to essential business functions or information system to identify acceptable recovery time periods (RTO/RPO) and resource requirements;
• Discover opportunities for strategic development or alleviation of business disruption and other risks caused by regulatory, business or industry-specific change initiatives;
• Identify mission critical systems for progressive prioritization to be restored in the event of a catastrophe;
• Assist with budgets and/or vendor requirements for use in the event of a disaster;
• Collaborate with architects and other IT staff in development of recovery strategies;
• Work with the IT staff to develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for identified mission critical applications;
• Coordinate periodic disaster recovery tests and document results;
• Coordinate/collaborate with the Business Continuity teams in US/Canada in performing the above and developing & maintaining business continuity plans for the IT function.
PREREQUISITES
• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, MIS or related discipline preferred
• 2-3 years experience in a related position (disaster recovery planner/coordinator)
• Must have experience and/or strong knowledge of IT operations, hardware, technology
• Must have experience and/or strong knowledge of data center workings and protocols
• Experience working on mid to large sized projects with defined deadlines and deliverables
• Strong verbal/written communication skills
• Strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
• Strong soft skills indicated by your proven track record in previous projects
• Ability to coordinate activities of people and resources from cross IT functional teams
• Action oriented self-starter
